Randy,

I remember seeing a presentation on the energy expended by jumping
arrowana.  The presentation was at the 1996 ASIH meeting, but I haven't
seen any papers resulting from it.  The authors were Korff, Suter, and Long
from Vassar College.  You could try tracking them down, they might have
some ideas.
