Postdoctoral Scholar/Lecturer
POSITION: Postdoctoral Scholar/Lecturer in Fish Biology (12-month
appointment, part-time)

APPOINTMENT PERIOD: June 1, 2002 to May 30, 2003
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Biology, Zoology, or Marine Science.
Candidate must have experience of coordinating and conducting field
research on fishes. Boat handling experience and scuba training
required. Demonstrated potential for effective teaching of ecology
and/or behavior ecology related courses at the undergraduate and
graduate levels. Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically
and culturally diverse campus community.
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience and potential to teach in
biostatistics, behavioral ecology and marine biology. Additional
background in using acoustic telemetry techniques on fishes, and GIS
data management. Ideal position for someone who wishes to gain more
teaching and research experience on a variety of projects.
DUTIES: 1) Assist with coordination and conducting field oriented
studies on white sharks, stingrays, and nearshore gamefishes. 2)
Assignment of 8-10 units per semester including 2-4 units of courses per
semester (potential courses: Ecology, Biostatistics, Animal Behavior,
Introduction to Marine Biology).
SALARY RANGE: $33,500 - $37,500, commensurate with experience and
background. Includes benefits.
