Process Intent 
The intent of the process is to fill an immediate vacancy that is 6 to 9 months in length to start with the possibility of an extension up to 11 months. 
The results of the process may also be used to create a pool of qualified candidates for future requirements that may be used to staff similar positions of various tenures in various locations within DFO.

In collaboration with the team investigators, the candidate will cooperatively develop methods for revising benchmarks of status for Pacific salmon (and reference points) that account for exploitation history and climate-driven changes in productivity, with a special emphasis on data-limited Conservation Units. The candidate will be responsible to developing a retrospective evaluation of those benchmarks for Conservation Units of Chum Salmon in Southern BC, and multiple species of Pacific salmon on the North and Central Coasts of BC. Retrospective evaluation of status will be compared among various benchmarks (e.g., between benchmarks that are data-intensive and those that use few data, and among those that account for exploitation history and/or changes in productivity and those assume constant exploitation and/or productivity). The candidate will also be responsible for liaising with team members and other knowledgeable experts. The candidate will produce recommendations for the application of benchmarks under various scenarios of exploitation history and climate-driven changes in productivity, and will write a technical report summarizing data, methods, results, and recommendations
