Position Announcement
Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures Department
Auburn University

Position: Ag Program Assistant II (grade 12) or Ag Program Associate I
(grade 14)

Responsibilities: Develop and conduct extension programs that assist
citizens, policy makers and elected officials in making wise uses of coastal
resources. Information is transferred to stake holders through personal
contacts, group meetings, workshops, newsletters, newspaper columns and
computer networks. The position is located at the Auburn University Marine
Extension and Research Center, Mobile, Alabama.

Qualifications: Entry into the Ag Program Assistant or Associate applicant
pool requires a B.S. or M.S. degree from an accredited college or university
in environmental sciences, natural resources or a closely related field. The
hiring range for Ag Program Assistant II is $26,410-$34,330 and requires a
B.S. degree and three years equivalent experience or an M.S. degree. The
hiring range for Ag Program Associate I is $31,340-$40,740 and requires a
B.S. degree and six years of equivalent experience or M.S. degree and three
years equivalent experience. Excellent interpersonal and written
communication skills including the ability to relate technical information
to non-technical audiences is essential. Experience with marine resources
and familiarity with computer programs to analyze data and disseminate
information is desirable. A successful candidate will have the ability to
work as a team player within overlapping administrative structures.
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an Alabama Driver's license
and be willing to work irregular hours and weekends including occasional
overnight travel.
