You have almost certainly got a pinfish, Lagodon rhomboides. (Incisors deeply notched: dark shoulder spot, Lateral line scales 45-50.)  They can exhibit banding on the body.

I have recently captured several fish in the mangroves of SW Florida that have me at a loss to identify.  At first glance, they are small Archsargus probatocephalus (broad dark bars, dark fins etc.).  However, they possess several characteristics which suggest otherwise.  They have a dark spot centered on the origin of their lateral line.  The incisor teeth are strongly notched and the body depth is approximately 2.33 the SL.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?
