Hi Liz
I found a couple of papers for you:
Wilson, D.T. and McCormick, M.I. 1997
Spatial and temporal validation of settlement-marks in the otoliths of
tropical reef fishes.
Marine Ecolgy Progress Series (sorry, I don't have the volume and page
numbers as the copy I have is a proof.)
Includes one serranid with other data. Wilson's doctoral research should
be building on this type of work - search the literature for more stuff by
him.
Light, P.R. and Jones, G.P. 1997
Habitat preference in newly settled coral trout (Plectropomus leopardus,
Serranidae).
Coral Reefs 16: 117-126
Wellington, G.M. and Victor, B.C. 1989
Planktonic larval duration of one hundred species of Pacific and Atlantic
damselfishes (Pomacentridae).
Marine BIology 101: 557-567
Hope these help.
