I suppose what she means by "feed the fish" is to put more nitrogen into
the system. Perhaps we should allow all sewage and nonpoint
source pollution to flow into the oceans, unimpeded by such things as
buffer zones and sewage treatment? Better yet, let's also allow
atmospheric deposition of NOx to add more N to the ocean!
(Isn't that pretty much what we're already doing?) By this logic, the
increasing frequency of algal blooms and the growing anoxic zone in the
Gulf of Mexico are good signs...
