Hello All I am working on a river restoration project where we want to enhance spawning areas for largemouth bass and other centrarchids in a large shallow river in New England. I am trying to find out details re: size of gravel/substrate preferred. I have found only very general information in USFWS Species Profiles.
A lot of research has been done on salmonids for obvious reasons - I saw reference to gravel quality in spawning channels for chum salmon in Wahsignton State: 40% 0.25-0.75 in. 45% 0.75-1.5 in. 15% 1.5-3 in.
I was wondering if anyone had any similar type of breakdown for bass, perch, or crappie. Or any names of folks to contact. Please reply to this listserver and to my email address if at all possible: [log in to unmask] Thanks in advance!
