MARINE ECOLOGY INSTRUCTOR
One Semester Sabbatical Replacement -- August 28 - December 21, 2000
A POSITION IS AVAILABLE to teach a one-semester course in Marine Ecology
for the fall of 2000 at the Williams College -- Mystic Seaport Maritime
Studies Program in Mystic, Connecticut.
RESPONSIBILITIES include instructing a third-year course in Marine Ecology
(class size 14), including two lectures and one laboratory per week;
supervising original student research projects; availability on some
weekends and evenings, and participation in other Williams-Mystic
activities, including two field seminars (California for 10 days, Nantucket
for four days). Ph.D. (or at ABD stage) required.
WILLIAMS-MYSTIC is a one-semester multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary
program emphasizing the interrelationships of marine science, marine
policy, maritime history, and literature of the sea. Up to 24 students
typically representing 15 different colleges and as many different majors
participate in this study-away program, often in their junior year.
Original research and thinking and comparative field seminars are important
emphases.
