2 M.S. Graduate Research Assistantships - Fisheries Management
University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff

Responsibilities: Pursue Master's thesis research related to the effects on fishes from changes in discharge below Remmel Dam on the Ouachita River, western Arkansas.   This study will require two field seasons collecting fishes using electrofishing, gillnetting, and hoopnetting.  Successful candidates be will required conduct intensive field sampling at certain times of the year.  The ability to work well with others is a must.  Experience with the aforementioned gear types and small-boat operation is preferred, but not required.  

This project could begin as early as July 1, 2000, pending final funding approval.  Interested applicants are encouraged to begin immediate correspondence.

Qualifications: B.S. in fisheries, aquatic science, or related field with a strong interest in riverine fisheries.  Minimum GPA of 3.0 in junior and senior year and combined quantitative and verbal GRE scores of 1,000+.   For international students, minimum TOEFL Score of 550.  Must be accepted into M.S. Degree Program in Aquaculture/Fisheries.
Salary $10,500/yr Year 1; $12,000/yr Year 2.
