Trophic Ecologist C Oregon State University, Hatfield Marine Science Center,
Cooperative Institute for Marine Resources Studies (CIMRS), Newport, OR.
Applications are invited for a Faculty Research Assistant who would be
responsible for the examining the trophic ecology of juvenile salmon and
associated taxa in continental shelf waters off Oregon and Washington. The
successful candidate would be responsible for the collection, analysis and
publication of stomach content and zooplankton data taken on cruises aboard
research or chartered fishing vessels.
We seek a person with a M.S. in a marine science (Oceanography, Zoology or
Fisheries) although a person with a bachelors degree with experience will
receive consideration. The ideal candidate will have seagoing experience
(preferably on oceanographic or fisheries ships), strong quantitative/computer
skills related to statistics and data analysis, and be experienced in
identifying zooplankton and prey fishes to species. There will be ample
opportunity for the candidate to develop their own research project. We
anticipate that the successful candidate could be on the job by October 2000.
Salary is on the order of $27-30,000 per year; the position is fixed term
for one year with renewal at the discretion of the Director of CIMRS.
