POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR - FISH NUTRITION
Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and Service (80%) will focus on the development of a
collaborative program in the area of finfish nutrition. The individual will
contribute to the research programs of the University and focus on the
development of collaborative research in finfish nutrition that addresses
economically important issues faced by the fish producers of the region.
Collaboration with faculty of the Commercial Fish and Shellfish Technologies
(CFAST) program at Virginia Tech will be essential for the development of a
successful research program.
Service will include outreach to fish producers through the
development of nutritionally related educational programs for fish producers
and related industry personnel. Outreach programs to the fish and feed
industries will help shape the research agenda. The person appointed will
provide telephone consultation and site visits for producers seeking
information and advice on nutrition.
He/she will be expected to participate in committee service to the
Department, College, and University.
Instruction (20%) will include teaching in nutrition to professional
veterinary students and graduate students from various departments across
the campus: particularly the development of a fish nutrition course that
will be cross-listed to enable enrollment of graduate, professional, and
selected undergraduate students. In addition, participate in other
established courses related to nutrition at the University.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a doctorate degree with experience in fish or animal
nutrition, have feed industry experience, and have experience related to
nutritional issues of the U.S. aquaculture industry. The individual must
have research experience and expertise in the nutrition of finfish.
Rank and Salary:
Rank will be at the level of a nontenure-track Associate or Full Research
Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Starting Date:
The starting date will be negotiable.
Fish Nutrition Position: The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of
Veterinary Medicine, Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences in
collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences,
College of Natural Resources, invites applications from qualified
individuals for a full-time, nontenure-track faculty position at the rank of
Associate or Full Research Professor in Fish Nutrition. Applicants must
