Augustus,
We have recently had a paper accepted in Molecular Ecology on cross species comparison of microsatellite markers for several species of tropical serranids, lutjanids and lethrinids. "Microsatellite markers for coral trout (Plectropomus laevis) and red throat emperor (Lethrinus miniatus) and their general utility in other species of reef fish." Lynne van Herwerden1,3, John Benzie1, Lesa Peplow1 and Campbell Davies2
I believe it should be coming out in the next issue. If you want to follow this up further contact Lynne van Herwerden ([log in to unmask]).
I'd be interested in hearing more about you work.
Cheers

If anyone has any information or pertinent references, I am looking for PCR primer sequences (d-loop, for example) that have been successfully used for population studies in Serranids. So far have found allozymes, RFLPs and a little with cytB, but not much more. Thanks for your time,
