Tracy,

We have had good results using "night seining" to capture juvenile Atlantic
salmon and brook and brown trout in Massachusetts streams. The technique
simply involves using small one person hand-held seines at night to capture
the fish. People using flashlights shuffle downstream toward the seines
in order to get the fish to go into them. For small fish, it is efficient
to use flashlights and small dip nets to capture the fish along stream
backs and in shallow/slow water.

I can send you more specifics if you like.

Gabe Gries
