Ag Program Assistant II or Ag Program Associate I

The Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures, Auburn University is
seeking applications for the position of Ag Program Assistant II (grade 12) or
Ag Program Associate I (grade 14) to develop and conduct extension programs that
assist various components of the coastal business community (commercial and
recreational fishing, charter boats, eco-tourism, marinas and other water
related activities) in economic development by collecting, analyzing and
disseminating economic impact data. Equally important are programs that assist
in implementing business principles and concepts in management, marketing and
regulatory assessment. Information is transferred to stake holders (coastal
business community, policy makers and elected officials) through personal
contacts, group meetings, workshops, newsletters, newspaper columns and computer
networks.  The position is located at the Auburn University Marine Extension and
Research Center, Mobile, Alabama.  Entry into the Ag Program Assistant or
Associate applicant pool requires a B.S. or M.S. degree from an accredited
college or university in natural resource economics or a closely related field.
The range for Ag Program Assistant II is $26,410-$42,240 and requires a B.S.
degree and three years equivalent experience or an M.S. degree.  The range for
Ag Program Associate I is $31,340-$50,130 and requires a B.S. degree and six
years of equivalent experience or M.S. degree and three years equivalent
experience.  Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills including
the ability to relate technical information to non-technical audiences is
essential.  Experience with marine resources and familiarity with computer
programs to analyze data and disseminate information is desirable.  A successful
candidate will have the ability to work as a team player within overlapping
administrative structures.  Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an
Alabama Driver's license and be willing to work irregular hours and weekends
including occasional overnight travel.
