Subject: hypothermal mortality at GS

I am searching for a paper that I once saw and did not secure (kicking
myself) documenting copious and patchy amounts of (newly dead?) detritus
(tests, crustacean shells, dead fish larvae) of sub-tropical origin
accumulating in cold water underneath the cold wall of the Gulf Stream,
specifically at the site where the Titanic hit an iceberg. It was
thought to result from hypothermal mortality upon mixing. I think it was
a Russian journal, possibly an English translation from a Russian
original, certainly at least one Russian author. Ring any bells? I
cannot find this in my searches and don't remember how I came across it
originally. Any hints will be appreciated.
