TEXT/PLAIN (86 lines)

Dear Mr. White:

Our laboratory, Mote Marine Laboratory of Sarasota, Florida, an
independent nonprofit research and education organization, has just
launched a comprehensive 5-year megaproject on the ecological health of
Charlotte Harbor, a major estuarine system in southwest Florida. As part
of that project, we are planning to do a series of interconnected landmark
studies that include fisheries ecology on a number of finfish and shark
species. Among these studies will be an innovative field research project
on tarpon and their interactions with predators (hammerhead and bull
sharks) and how this interaction may be affected by fishing activity in
the Harbor region. This is only one of a number of important studies to
be done on keystone marine gamefish species.

If these studies appear to fit your criteria for research support, I would
appreciate hearing from you as to how we may submit a proposal to your

Thank you very much for your assistance.
