Two workshops are being held at the University of Washington's School of Aquatic and Fisheries Science next month which may be of interest to those working with salmon.
The North Pacific Anadromous Fisheries Commission (NPAFC) is sponsoring a one day workshop on Salmonid Otolith Marking on March 21, 2001. Otolith marking techniques have been increasingly applied to Pacific salmon by member countries of the NPAFC with over 1 billion marked fish released each year. This workshop is intended to share information on the methods and applications for research and management. Information and registration can be found at: http://www.npafc.org/
At the same location, from March 21 to March 23, the 20th Northeast Pacific Pink & Chum Salmon Workshop will be held. This long running workshop also has strong international participation. Details and registration can be found at: http://www.nwfsc.noaa.gov/pinkchum/
