The other superb reference for fish size/gill area information (apart from the info
already imparted) is the Fish Base web site - http://www.fishbase.org which has an
unbelievable amount of esoteric (but extremely useful) information. A fantastic resource
right at your fingertips. Dig around, and you'll find the gill area - size plots for a
large number of species.
