Trophic Dynamics Modeler; Post-Doctoral Research Associate; Salary: $38,160-39,600 depending upon experience; Start Date: February 4, 2002. This 12-month, full-time, fixed-term appointment is through the Cooperative Institute for Marine Resources Studies working on a joint NSF/NOAA US GLOBEC study of the northeast Pacific under the direction of Dr. Thomas Wainwright and other affiliated principal investigators. This study addresses food web structure and dynamics of the California current system, with a focus on trophic relationships of salmon. There will be ample opportunity to develop an independent research project. The position is located at the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR and is funded by grant funds. Reappointment is at the discretion of the CIMRS Director. QUALIFICATIONS: Required - Ph.D. in Ecology, Marine Sciences or related disciplines - Experience in development and use of numerical models in systems ecology - Experience in interpretation of model output with respect to physical/biological data sets - Competence in written and spoken English with ability to complete and publish results of investigations and present results at scientific meetings
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in the following areas: Coastal current systems UNIX systems and object-oriented programming
