Aquatic Ecologist (Lake Michigan Biological Station) Illinois Natural History Survey Champaign, IL
Responsibilities: Coordinate and lead research sampling, supervise and train staff, conduct data analysis, some laboratory identification of aquatic organisms including fish, zooplankton or benthic invertebrates. Ongoing projects emphasize mechanisms affecting recruitment of nearshore fishes, evaluation of an artificial reef, and impacts of exotic species. Prepare reports, presentations, and publications. Work will be with faculty, graduate students, and other full- and part-time research staff.
Qualifications: M.S. degree in zoology, fisheries, aquatic ecology, or related field is required. Emphasized areas of research include predator-prey relationships, essential fish habitat, fish movement, population dynamics, fish-invertebrate interactions, and fish spawning behavior. Other desirable qualifications include experience on large water bodies, first aid training, and SCUBA certification.
Salary: $28,000 - $32,000 with benefits.
