Good day,
This message is an international solicitation for abstract submissions to
the Fish Technology Track of the annual MTS/IEEE meeting, Oceans 2002, in
Biloxi, MS from October 29-31, 2002 [http://www.oceans2002.com/].
Two very broad sessions are currently planned within the Fish Technology
Track (these sessions might be further refined dependent on submission
response):
1/ Aquaculture: focusing on developments in offshore production technologies
(including moorings/cages/optimization etc); new species and techniques
focussed on tropical waters (especially for the location in the Gulf of
Mexico); integrated and large scale production systems (include here
platforms/barges/boats designed specific for aquaculture); and, other
technological advances for aquaculture such as recirculating, etc.
2/ Commercial/Recreational Fisheries: bycatch reduction devices, efficient
and environmental fishing, biotelemetry advances for research, artificial
reef developments, fish spotting/forecasting, etc.
Unfortunately, and because I just assumed the role of Track Chair, abstracts
are due by May 13, 2002. Owing to these time constraints, please ensure
your submissions are appropriate, relevant and not overly commercial to the
Track program. Abstracts should be 300-500 words in length, and NOT contain
any figures or tables. Abstracts should describe the problem that is
addressed, indicate its importance, and describe how the work contributes to
the field. In addition to the abstract body, the following information is
required for review: Abstract Title; Authors/co-authors and affiliations;
Topic Area; Email for correspondence.
Submitted abstracts will be reviewed for relevance and authors notified of
acceptance/rejection by May 15, 2002. Also at this time, accepted authors
will receive guidelines for writing the conference paper due August 2, 2002.
Please submit your abstracts, and address further questions, to either

refer to the MTS web page (http://www.mtsociety.org/) for further
information on the society and view a list of previous conference
proceedings titles and materials.
