Once again I must remind subscribers NOT to pass on virus warnings to this list. This particular warning, like most that we see, is a hoax that first appeared in January 1999.
Our topic is fisheries science, not computer viruses, and with over 50,000 viruses out there and dozens of hoaxes, the list could be shut down by a clutter of well-meaning but irrelevant and unnecessary messages.
An exception could be made for viruses that seem to target the fisheries community specifically, but these are extremely rare.
You can learn more about virus hoaxes by consulting the websites of the major producers of inti-virus software, such as http://vil.mcafee.com/hoax.asp?
