MS. Graduate Research Assistantship in Fisheries Ecology
Department of Natural Resources Conservation
University of Massachusetts, Amherst

Work on a project examining winter recruitment of juvenile bluefish in
Northeast Florida estuaries.  Research will include weekly sampling of
selected inlets October-March using seines, gill nets and trawls.
Collected bluefish will be aged, measured and stomach contents identified.
Fish distributions will be correlated to biotic and abiotic factors; growth
rates estimated using otoliths, and diet selectivities calculated. Student
will also have access to a historical database of collections from

Qualifications: B.S. in fisheries, ecology, biology, or a related field and
must meet the admission requirements of the Graduate School of the
University of Massachusetts.  Minimum GPA of 3.2; 1100 GRE (V+Q) score.
Responsible, motivated, and able to work independently in a remote
location.  Field sampling experience desirable

Salary:  Stipend of $13,000 per year plus tuition waiver and health benefits
