Hi Kathy,
In a lot of places in the Philippines (in Bolinao - 300 km north of Manila,
for example), damselfishes make up from .6 to .9% of the fish harvested from
reefs by subsistence fishers. They are not target species themselves but are
caught in traps and gillnets that target siganids, labrids and scarids.

Hello,
Does anyone know whether damselfishes (Pomacentridae) are harvested
in significant numbers as a food source? Perhaps in the Philippines?
Thanks for the help.
Kathy
