A word of warning to subscribers who are interested in reproductive
strategies and gender differentiation in fish - you may not receive all
messages on these topics, since many sites are stiffening their spam
filters, and may misinterpret and bounce postings that would be of interest
to you. For example, we recently got the following bounce message "The mail
relay server has quarantined this message due to adult content." in response
to a perfectly legitimate posting (I think you can all guess the 3-letter
word that triggered the filter).

By the way, a side effect of having postings go to the list is that these
annoying error messages are returned to the list, where they are intercepted
by the server and sent to the list owners. If we change the list so that
replies go to the original poster by default, then anyone who posts a
message is likely to receive a string of error messages in reply. Not that
the list owners would mind not receiving them!
