Hi all,
First, please forgive my rather complete ignorance on
the topic of fisheries management and aquaculture
science. I joined the list in the hopes of learning
from those of you already in the field. (Of course, I
do not intend to treat this as an open forum for
homework help!) I am, at present, an undergraduate
student and have not had the oppurtunity to take any
courses in this area. I realize the field is highly
specialized and generally left for graduate students,
but I'd like to get a head start, so to speak.
I would really appreciate a few ideas for suggested
reading for a basic treatment of fisheries management
and aquaculture. I'm looking for texts that are good
up-to-date resources and are perhaps assigned to
entry-level graduate study classes. (I have a
thorough background in ecology, wildlife management,
biology, etc. etc. already.) I'm also interested in
hearing what scientific journals are considered the
most representative of this field's work.
If anyone is in a position to offer advice, however
lengthy or short, please email me off list with your
ideas! I hope this is perceived as an acceptable use
of this list.
