Dr Harrod,

As an electrofishing instructor for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, I have
always advised our class participants to use continuously-circulating
tanks instead of closed systems. You can get submersible,
battery-powered water pumps that will provide a steady flow of freshwater
at ambient temperature and oxygen levels from the water body you are
sampling. In my experience, this is far superior to the situation with a
closed system where you try to aerate the water but also have to deal with
increasing temp in the tank on warm days.

I urge you to consider using a water pump to run water through your tank
and avoid the problems related to aeration altogether.  --jbr
