Dear Fish Sci
Does anyone know what the current procedures are for importing
preserved fish tissue to into the US. We'll be leaving on a field
trip soon, and hopefully returning with a few hundred fin clip
samples in DMSO/NaCl and a handful of voucher specimens in alcohol.
We'll have letters from our host country certifying that the fish are
not listed as endangered or threatened, and that we have permission
to collect them.
Does anyone know what else we might need for US customs these days?
Do we need to contact APHIS or USFWS too? Anecdotes from those with
recent experience would be most welcome.
many thanks,
Jeff Markert
