Colleagues,
Almost nothing is known about the genetic basis of sex determination in fish (and chondrichthyes?). It has already been noted that fishes display many different types of sex determination systems, from hermaphroditism to gonochorism, and from environmental sex determination to genetic sex determination including male and female heterogamety, polyfactorial systems and autosomal influences. Seems to me as if our imagination is limiting the number of reproduction systems. For those interested but not familiar with this topic, here a link to a very nice site;
