PhD students enrolled in universities from member states of the European
Union are invited to apply for fellowships (3-12 months) to conduct
research and/or follow courses at the "Bergen Advanced Training Site in
Marine Ecology" (BATMARE) as part of their PhD studies.

BATMARE offers interdisciplinary doctoral education and training through
research on marine processses, ecosystems and interactions, covering the
range from microbial ecology to macroplankton and fish, and from physical
and organismal processes to ecosystem dynamics.

BATMARE is a "Marie Curie Training Site" funded by the European Commission and
hosted by the University of Bergen, Norway.

Proposals are accepted and evaluated continuously.

Experienced researchers may apply to the complementary core project "Bergen
Marine Food Chain Research Infrastructure" (Bergen Marine)

The scheme offers a unique opportunity for conducting integrated short-term
research projects at infrastructure from the University of Bergen and the
Institute of Marine Research in Bergen, Norway. The infrastracture includes
a range of complementary installations covering the axis from controlled
laboratory systems to natural environments. The installations are
especially suited for conducting studies within planktonic food chain
dynamics, early life history of fish and shellfish, fish recruitment,
aquaculture, environmental health, marine molecular biology, biodiversity
and oceanographic processes.

Access to Bergen Marine is provided free of charge for periods of 1-3
months, supported by the EC's Human Potential Programme: Access to Research
Infrastructures.

Appointed users will benefit from infrastructural, logistical, technical
and scientific support. Travel and subsistence expenses are covered with
certain constraints.

There are 3 fixed annual deadlines for submission of project proposals, the
next one being on August 1.
