UNESCO Inter-University Post-Graduate University Course in Biotechnology
(Japan and Thailand)

The Course will be open to young scientists of Asian Member States of UNESCO.

For the Fundamental Course, applicants should have at least Bachelor's degree in
the university, and for the Advanced Course, applicants should have at least
Master's degree or equivalent degree in the field of biotechnology or related
areas. Since this program is not aimed for postdoctoral research fellow, the
priority for Ph.D. holders is much lower.

It is preferable that an applicant has, as of October 1, 2004, at least one year
of experience in teaching and/or in research (postgraduate work included) in a
field related to biotechnology.

Applicants are required to possess certified proficiency in the use and
understanding of the English language

Applicants are not to be older than 35 years as of October 1, 2004.

The Japanese Government will offer each participant of the Course a scholarship*
and a round trip air ticket (economy class) from his/her home country (a nearest
international airport) to Osaka through Bangkok, Thailand.

A diploma will be awarded to each participant
A maximum of 11 participants for the Advanced Course in the year 2004-2005.

The deadline for receipt of application forms is July 9, 2004.
