A research fellowship (post doc) is available at the Department of Biology, University of Oslo from July 1, 2004 for a duration of up to two years (the starting date is negotiable). The position is financed by The Research Council of Norway (NFR) and is administrated by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
We seek candidates for a Postdoctoral Research position based in the Department of Biology at the University of Oslo, Norway. The position is attached to a recently funded project entitled "Magnetoreception and magnetic compass orientation in the long distance migration of the European eel". The project includes 24 months of support for a post doc, beginning in July 2004. Eligible candidates must have a doctoral degree in a discipline that is closely related to the project's subject area with specialization(s) in one or more of the following: fish biology; vertebrate physiology; sensory biology; aquatic ecology, or behaviour. Although the position is based at the University of Oslo, the experimental work will be conducted at the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research-Austevoll. The successful candidate will also spend 6-8 months training at the start of the project with Professor John Phillips at Virginia Tech. University in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA.
