The E-symposium focuses at how African households use biotechnology and
bioengineering methods in urban agriculture to increase income
generation and to ensure their food security.

The objectives are :
* to present proven methods that are used by African households
* to discuss how these methods can be more widely used and
what are the technical and socio-economic constraints
     for African households
* to discuss issues related to urban agriculture and their
     economic impacts on African households
* to discuss how African households can learn from other
     practices abroad

The e-symposium is organised so that you can interact with authors of 7
papers and discuss their papers which cover technological, economic and
public policy aspects of urban agriculture in Africa. A second parallel
activity of the E-symposium will focus on the end-users and will discuss
3 selected and important concerns :

1) What are the proven biotechnological and bioengineering
methods used in urban agriculture and how can they be
more widely used by African households
2) What are the technical and socio-economic constraints
and what can be done about them
3) How can information be delivered to end-users so that
they can increase potential for more income generation.
