You might try contacting Dr. Gerald Allen of Perth, Australia (well, in
Perth in 1991, anyway), the author of Damselfishes of the World. The book
hasn't anything on the variations of the three-spot within the Red Sea, but
he may be able to point you to more specific information. I have no idea
how to get in touch with him, but someone else here is bound to know where
he is.
