This should serve as a reminder to all subscribers to set their accounts to
NOMAIL by sending the message

SET FISH-SCI NOMAIL

to [log in to unmask] before activating a vacation program. I have set
Kyne Krusic-Golub's account to NOMAIL but the owners of the FISH-SCI list
reserve the right remove subscribers who frequently burden the list with
automatic vacation messages.

Usually these autoresponders send a message back to anyone who posts a
message, but some, like this one, respond to the entire list.

Furthermore I have recently discovered that the use of autoresponders can
cause ALL mail from your site to be blocked. This is due ot the development
of excessively strict anti-spam practices by some institutes, and we often
hear of legitimate mail being blocked. For example, at any time there are
usually a dozen or so FISH-SCI subscribers who cannot receive postings
because their mail servers reject all FISH-SCI mail as spam.
