Dear Randy:
I really have not seen Jennings, Kayser and Reinolds, but I would suggest you to check out two books: Marine Biology by Jeffrey Levinton (Oxford University Press) and Biological Oceanography: an Introduction by Lalli and Pasons (Pergamon Press). They are both very nice books, the information is nicely presented without going into deep discussion. I think they would fit nicely for what you need. I have used them both to prepare my Marine Ecology and Biology courses for two universities here in Ecuador.
