Dear List Members,
I would like to announce the following workshop, held in University
Konstanz, Germany on December 11-13.2005.
Water level fluctuations in lacustrine systems
ecological impacts and prospects of future climate change
Announcement of a workshop, to be held in Konstanz (Germany),
December 11 13, 2005
Rationale and scope
Many lacustrine systems are undergoing more or less regular water
level fluctuations (WLF) at various temporal patterns (short-term,
annual, long-term). Structure and function of the littoral zone, an
important buffer zone in the land-water interface, are especially
affected by WLF. This concerns abiotic (e.g., hydrodynamics, erosion,
re-suspension and particle settlement, nutrient input by groundwater
seepage) as well as biotic processes and components (e.g., microbial
communities, invertebrates, fish, reed belts). Life cycles of
organisms often include littoral and pelagic stages.....more.
