The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin announces the
position of
Head of Junior Research Group
for the term from March 1, 2006 to February 28, 2011. The position is ranked
at
the W2 level in the German system, which roughly corresponds to that of
associate professor in U.S. system. The announcement addresses scholars
planning a research project in history of science who have completed their
Ph.D. no earlier than February 2001. Besides the Institute's research
infrastructure, funds for the employment of one research fellow or for the
invitation of visiting scholars and for office assistance will be provided.
Scholars of all nationalities are welcome to apply; applications from women
are
especially welcomed. The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more

Candidates are requested to submit a curriculum vitae (including list of
publications), a research proposal (750 words maximum), and three letters of
recommendation by
