Dear guests and users

I welcome you all at the first day of a very important and
useful e-seminar on the "Potentials of Pleurotus ostreatus
and urea as Bio Catalysts in the Biodegradation of
Lubricating oil contaminated soil" by Mr Kenneth Yongabi
(Cameroon) et. al.

The seminar will continue from 8th day of May till 31st May.
The seminar is important, as is indicated by the topic, for
its informative utility in most of the environmental and
related problems. In todays world, the contimination of soil
due to various organic and inorganic products and
bio-products is a very serious issue fasing the
environmental advocates, policy makers and researchers. The
seminar would invite views from different parts of the world
on this topic and provide an opportunity to share our
experiences.

For this purpose, I request you all to let know your friends
about the seminar and enable them to participate if they
could contribute in any manner.

All the best

Sahibzada Irfanullah

Hi Everyone

Since I will be offline tomorrow, I take this opportunity to
express my thanks to the chairperson of this e-seminar - Dr.
Sahibzada Irfanullah Khan - for facilitating this seminar.

I am pleased to be able to learn new things about the
bioremediation of contaminated soils with lubricating oil
and especially at places where mechanic workshops are
located. Where there is no public waste oil collection and
disposal/reuse system, on-site disposal is most commonly
adopted. Rather than a worse environmental impact when
disposed into water sources, on-site disposal on and
treatment using soil/compost pile may be the alternative
choice that mechanic workshops have. So if a simple method
could be developed for daily disposal of mechanic oil
wastes, it would certainly be useful.

Waste oil has been used at a household level to start
fuelwood cooking stoves.

Thank you Kenneth Yongabi for presenting your research paper
and I hope further research will lead to the development of
a system for on-site treatment of waste oils at mechanic
workshops.
