Ni som deltar i listan vet att ni kan skriva direkt till listan. På samma gång vill jag meddela att jag själv kommer att vara bortrest från den 5 juni till den 14 juli. Ha det så bra!

EUMAP seeks: RESEARCHERS (7) for a new monitoring project on 'Muslims in the EU'

The EU Monitoring and Advocacy Program (EUMAP) of the Open Society Institute is currently initiating a new monitoring project on 'Muslims in the EU', which will follow up on from previous EUMAP reports on Minority Protection in Europe - in particular EUMAP's 2005 report on 'Muslims in the UK: Policy for engaged citizens'. The Project Manager for this new project is Tufyal Choudhury.

The new project will focus on the situation of Muslims in selected major cities across the EU with significant Muslim populations, looking in particular at the extent to which local policy addresses their specific needs and seeks to include them in the policy-making process. In each selected city, monitoring will focus on the following general areas: consultation and participation; social protection (covering access to social services in general, with a particular focus on housing and healthcare); education; employment; and safety and security.

EUMAP is currently seeking 7 researchers to carry out a short background research and literature review (4-6 weeks duration) for the following countries: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK. The research will be used by EUMAP to develop a comprehensive methodology for the monitoring, and select the most relevant cities to monitor. It is expected that the final output will be an approx. 30-40 page paper, in English, together with a detailed bibliography of all relevant sources (both in English and other languages).

It is anticipated that the research will be equivalent to one month's full-time research work. The research should be started as soon as possible, and should be completed by 15 July. The selected researchers will receive a fee to be discussed with the selected applicants.
