"Soka University of America, a liberal arts university
located in Aliso Viejo, California, seeks an Assistant
Professor of Biology with emphasis in Environmental
Aquatic Microbiology. The successful candidate will
teach courses in General Biology, Intro Microbiology,
Environmental Microbiology, Diseases of Polluted
Waters, Medical Microbiology, Bioremediation and other
courses according to the applicant's background and
expertise. A strong commitment to undergraduate
education and a program of faculty/student research is
expected.  Research specialty in freshwater and/or
marine microbial ecology, water quality microbiology,
and/or water pollution, coupled with a broad,
multidisciplinary approach to answering environmental
questions, is a plus.

Applicants must hold a PhD in the appropriate area,
yet be versatile enough to teach courses outside
his/her areas of specialization, since all members of
the faculty are expected to teach one or more courses
in an interdisciplinary general studies program. This
is a full-time tenure track faculty position, starting
mid-August, 2007.
