Hi all,
Currently I am writing a PHD thesis about the development of stock
assessment procedures for the scallop (pecten maximus) stock of the
southeast coast of Ireland. One of the chapter is about the assessment of
catch and effort data. Two analysis have been carried out: 1. The
standardisation of CPUE with the use of GLMs. This provides annual
abundance index, and 2. The application of the Delury depletion method.
This was done to explore the intra-annual depletion of local populations.
Catch per unit effort data has been provided by the European communities
logbooks. The use of the Vessel monitoring data has been use in order to
map the distribution of fishing effort. CPUE from the EU logbooks was
matched to the VMS data and then the analysis could be carried out taking
into account the spatial distribuiton of scallop abundance and fishing
effort. I am writing to you all because i am looking for references on
the assessment of catch and effort data on scallop fisheries, or others
benthic sedentary species, in which the spatial pattern has been accounted
for.
Any help would be very welcome
