Please find below an announcement of and instructions for participation to
the online-discussion in the framework of the Global Forum on Migration and
Development.

Dear Madam/ Dear Sir,

We would like to invite you to participate in the online discussions that
we are organising from May 14th onwards, in the framework of the 'Global
Forum on Migration and Development'.

The Belgian government will host the first meeting of this Global Forum on
9, 10 and 11 July 2007. The King Baudouin Foundation has accepted the
invitation to organise the first day of this Global Forum meeting, which
will be devoted to discussions of non-state actors. This 'Civil Society
Day' on July 9th will gather a broad range of non-governmental actors to
discuss the migration and development nexus and give input to the
governmental discussions on the 10th and 11th of July.

The King Baudouin Foundation kindly invites civil society organisations and
other non-state actors to participate in online discussions. Through these
discussions we aim to facilitate a vivid exchange of ideas and experiences,
including from organisations that cannot be present at the July 9th
conference. The online discussions serve to provide input into the agenda
setting process and will feed directly into the debates of the Civil
Society Day.

We urge you to present your ideas, recommendations and concerns during
these online debates, as thorough preparatory discussions will lead up to a
successful Civil Society Day, and thus form a meaningful part of the
'Global Forum on Migration and Development'.

The 3-week session will run in English, French and Spanish and is open to
participation from non-state actors from around the world. The discussions
will start on Monday 14th May (9 am GMT) and close on Sunday 3rd June (5 pm
GMT).

The discussions will evolve around the following three main themes;

   1. Human Capital Development and Labor Mobility: Maximising
      Opportunities and Minimising Risks
   2. Remittances and other Diaspora Resources: Increasing their Net Volume
      and Development Value
   3. Enhancing Institutional and Policy Coherence and Promoting
      Partnerships

The discussions will run concurrently live throughout the 3-week period and
are being facilitated by a team from December 18, in close co-operation
with the King Baudouin Foundation.

At our website www.gfmd-civil-society.org you will find the information
you need to register for the discussions. The debates will start on 14 May,
but registration is open as of today.

Looking forward to your contribution to the online discussions,

Kind Regards,
The King Baudouin Foundation Team
