Subject: MA Scholarship

Dear All,

We are seeking a suitable candidate for a Masters scholarship in Social
Anthropology or Sociology at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
The scholarship, which covers both fees and maintenance, is connected to
a semi-applied piece of research looking at the communication of fire
warnings in New Zealand. The project is conceived as a contribution to
the burgeoning field of 'science studies', and will examine both the
social and material frameworks within which rural fire risks and
warnings are constructed, communicated, and acted upon. The project will
begin in February 2008, at the University of Canterbury, in
Christchurch, and will involve fieldwork in other parts of New Zealand.

Please see the attached for further details, and for more information,
or to make an application, please contact Richard Vokes
([log in to unmask]).

Yours,
Camilla Obel and Richard Vokes
