Final Call for Abstracts
3rd International Bonefish and Tarpon Symposium
November 14 - 16, 2008

Islamorada, FL
The theme for the 3rd International Bonefish and Tarpon Symposium is
Research and Conservation for the Future. This theme will provide a
venue for taking what has been learned since the last symposium, and
formulating a strong strategy for moving forward with research,
conservation, and management.
The symposium will feature two days (November 14 – 15) of scientific
presentations at International Game Fish Association headquarters in
Dania Beach, Florida, and one day (November 16) of fishermen-oriented
talks in Islamorada. Some scientific presentations will be chosen for
revision to a general audience format for November 16.
Call For Abstracts: The Symposium Committee invites abstracts for
presentations (oral and poster). Authors must indicate their preferred
presentation format: 1) oral , 2) poster. Only one oral presentation
will be accepted for each senior author. Abstract deadline is May 2,
2008 (abstracts received after the deadline will be considered, but will
not receive high priority in ranking).
The abstract should include, in this order:
1. A brief but descriptive title
2. List of authors, their affiliations, addresses, telephone numbers,
and e-mail addresses
3. A presentation summary of 250 words or less
4. preference for oral or poster presentation
Abstracts must be submitted as attachments in Word, rtf, or txt format

Registration will open May 5, 2008 ($100)
Tentative Symposium Schedule:
Friday, November 14:
Day – oral presentations
Evening – Poster Presentations, Banquet
Saturday, November 15:
Day – oral presentations; policy/management roundtable
Sunday, November 16:
Day – Selected presenters from Days 1 and 2, revised for a fishermen
audience, will be given in a public forum in Islamorada
