Subject: Cardinal fish Identification and old names

Dear all.
I am currently studying cardinalfish in Northern Madagascar. I have the
guidebook Coral reef fishes by Lieske and Myers as well as fishbase
information but i was wondering whether anyone could recommed any other texts
for cardinal fish ID.
Secondly I have a 1975 paper 'The place of Apogonid fish in the Food Webs of
a Malagasy Reef' by ML Vivien. In this paper cardinalfish the cardinalfishes
names are I believe outdated. Could anyone suggest how I find out the modern
species classification from the old names.
Please forgive me asking what appear obvious questions- Madagascar has a
very slow internet system and my usual routes of research are unavailable.
Many thanks
