I have done some diet work on longear sunfish. Unfortunately, all we published was % benthic vs % pelagic prey. Results are in:
Shoup, D.E., and Hill, L.G. 1997. Ecomorphological diet predictions: An assessment using inland silverside (Menidia beryllina) and longear sunfish (Lepomis megalotis) from Lake Texoma. Hydrobiologia. 350:87-98.
Unfortunately, this project is old enough that I do not have the data in electronic form, so I can not easily calculate % diet by prey type for you. The only other diet accounts I know of for this species are:
Applegate, R.L., Mullan, J.W., and Morais, D.I. 1966. Food and growth of six centrarchids from shorline areas of Bull Shoals Reservoir. Proc. Annu. Conf. Southeast. Assoc. Game Fish Comm. 20:469-482.
Mullan, J.W., and Applegate, R.L. 1967. Centrarchid food habits in a new and old reservoir during and following bass spawning. Proc. Annu. Conf. Southeast. Assoc. Game Fish Comm. 21:332-342.

Subject: Diet data for Centrarchidae
Greeting fish list subscribers
I am looking for data on diet of the following Centrarchidae species:
Lepomis miniatus, Lepomis megalotis, Centrarchus macropterus, and
Enneacanthus obesus. what I need is data of %individuals containing prey of
various categories (the more detailed, the better). if you are willing to
share your data or point me to a publication you are aware of, I will be
most thankful!
thanks
Roi
