Frank Hester earlier brought up the issue of what is an industrial fishery,
which is an excellent question. Many of us think less about traditional
commercial fisheries such as groundfish, sea scallop, sharks, etc, and more
about fisheries prosecuted for reduction or mass production purposes (e.g.,
the menhaden fishery of the US is prosecuted to eventually convert raw
material to meal, oil, and solubles. The tuna fishery purse seine fishery
typically involves large scale production, and is often viewed as an
industrial fishery. Then, there is the anchovy fishery, which is also
viewed by some as an industrial fishery. There is also an industrial
fishery in Europe in which the fish are harvest for uses other then direct
human consumption or for bait.
Perhaps a more appropriate question would have been to ask Camilo about the
specifics of the fishery for which an effort is being made to obtain videos.
