Roi,

You can check out this publication. http://www.zoology.ufl.edu/COURSES/zoo6005/2000-01/exampleproposal.pdf It probably isn't exactly what you are alooking for but the citations will give you some direction. If I remember, some folks over at The Ohio State University were doing some work on centrarchids. I suggest you look around on the Ohio Sea Grant website for some research materials. Also, keep in mind that there will be ontogenetic changes in diet. For instance off the top of my head, I think they would mainly feed on smaller crustaceans such as copepod nauplii and small copepods and cladocerans early on, then switch to larger copepods and cladocerans such as Daphnia spp. later, then to small insects such as Chironomids and simulids, then to larger insects like the odonates or molluscs (snails), and if they get big enough they would become piscivores. Obviously I am missing a huge number of potential food items. I also would be willing to bet that what they eat depends on what is available in the environment. Perhaps, you might give a little more detail as to your question, and the data that you are looking for? Perhaps a region and size range of centrarchids that you are interested in? Are you specifically looking to do a meta-analysis to determine spatial and temporal differences in diet composition?

Cheers,
Justin

Subject: Diet data for Centrarchidae

Greeting fish list subscribers

I am looking for data on diet of the following Centrarchidae species:
Lepomis miniatus, Lepomis megalotis, Centrarchus macropterus, and
Enneacanthus obesus. what I need is data of %individuals containing prey of
various categories (the more detailed, the better). if you are willing to
share your data or point me to a publication you are aware of, I will be
most thankful!
thanks
Roi
